I’ve been banging on a lot lately about how important it is for writers to build a platform.
It shames me – just a little because I’m generally shameless – that I haven’t got one myself.
If I can be an example to others I shall be. Fellow writers, here’s the news. If you want to build a platform, just get on with it. Don’t procrastinate. I’ve been sitting on this little platform for a couple of years – obsessing about fonts and colours and domain names and christ knows what else.
So, here we are and here I am dear reader. On my first post on my brand new writerly platform. Why should you care? I’m not presuming you give a shit. That would be presuming too much, but I do want to use this Platform to write about the issues that excite and infuriate me
From time to time I might try to sell you a book. But I promise not too often.
A bit about me? Why not, it’s my fucking platform and if you don’t like the sweary bits I’ll not be apologising.
I’m a writer, marketing copywriter and writer of short stories. (you can go and buy my book here – go on, you’ll be my new favourite if you do).
I’m currently working on a Science Fiction trilogy called The Watchers which I will use this platform to share and gnarl and thrash as I try to work out how to write and publish the thing. Hopefully I can be an example…
I’m a fan of self publishing. I love the DIY ethos of the whole thing, which reminds me of the punk just have a bloody go and do it ethos of the 1970s.
So, while this probably isn’t quite some rambling manifesto – or maybe it is – I’ll be using at as a space to share my writing.
I hope you’ll come along for the ride.
